Monday, August 13th Relax and explore our new digs

This is like a 4 star resort. It turns out that there are tons of these all around Austria, and some are listed as 5 star. I don’t know how they could be better or more luxurious – this seems pretty amazing! It’s in the middle of the Austrian Alps, with gorgeous views from every angle. There are kid friendly amenities all over the place. We were assigned a table for our family for breakfast and dinner. For lunch, they roped off the main dining area and we were allowed to sit at any casual table that we wanted.

Our table had our name on it (Familie McAlinden). We were signed up for an automatic “tour” to understand all of the programs and lay out of the place. It’s WONDERFUL!

After a great buffet style breakfast, we took the tour. This place has 3 kids’ play rooms, all very enticing and adorable, a game room for teenagers, a big pool and 2 baby pools (inside in an “atrium” where they can open the doors to outside if weather appropriate), an entire spa area with lots of European things (different types of saunas, a cold pool, a relaxation room with piped in music and stars on the ceiling, a masseuse in residence, and lots more. I think we’ll be able to relax here. Outside was gorgeous and totally amazing. A barn contained cows and horses and there was pony riding for the kids every day. There were goats to feed, rabbits and guinea pigs to pet, 2-3 cats around the premises, some pigs, and the best part of all (from my kids’ perspective), the most wonderful outside play area imaginable. I’ll just post some pictures, because it’s too hard to describe in full, but everywhere you looked were very interesting things to be climbed, explored, ridden or spun. They had a shed full of ride able items and a path with tunnels to go through. You just selected your item and off you went. We were in family paradise.

In addition to the amazing range of things to do just on the property, they had a full kids’ program from 9:30am-8pm. You could do any or all of it that you wanted. The child helpers were WONDERFUL – some of the best I’ve seen. They remembered our kids’ names after the first day, and they always seemed glad to have any or all of our kids join them in whatever activity was going on.

After our tour, we took the kids to the pool, walked into Mittersill, the Austrian village, (shopping mecca for our region, by the way), and played in the outside area. The outside playground kept the kids busy for TWO HOURS while Paul and I alternately played with them or sat on the chairs and gazed at the mountains. We kept pinching ourselves to see if this was real or not. Thank you God!!!!! (He continues to encourage me while living here, especially when I get very discouraged). We still can’t believe our vacation is so great!
